The Board appreciates that many residents are asked to stay home during this time. As mentioned in the update article below, we recognize that we have a higher number of residents on site during the day. While Lakeside has many paths and walkways to enjoy, we have noticed an increase is trash and litter spread throughout the community (especially in the parking and dumpster areas).
We ask that all residents and their guests make their best effort not to litter, and to please dispose of any trash in the appropriate bins. This past week, we have noticed plastic bags in streams, fast food cups in parking stalls, and paper strewn through shrubs and bushes.
Most people probably don’t notice if they drop part of their trash on the ground. So, we’re asking you to be more mindful when you do dispose of your trash. On Saturday, May 23rd, we found garbage all around one of the dumpsters. This is due to someone throwing it over the wall or trash enclosure door, and it misses and hits the ground. Please take just an extra minute to open the door and dispose of the trash properly. We also don’t want to attract unwanted rodents.
Another problem that has persisted is the dumping of large pieces of furniture and appliances in trash enclosure areas. When our vendor arrives to clean this area, he has to take the extra time and effort to remove these large and sometimes bulky items. There is an extra charge for this service. Some months the bill has been in the hundreds of dollars. This cost affects us all.
A very simple solution is to call the City of Garden Grove at 714-238-2444. The city will pick up your items for FREE (except there is a disposal fee if the item contains freon). One phone call could help save our complex hundreds, if not, thousands of dollars over time. You can also visit the city’s website here: https://ggcity.org/pw/collection-schedule-faqs
One of the reasons we love living at Lakeside is because it’s one of the few places in the city where you can feel like you’re in nature. The colorful plants, tall trees, singing birds, and plentiful fish also call Lakeside home. Together, we can help keep our community healthy, safe, and clean for all who enjoy our provincial surroundings.
Thank You, The Board
